You get drawn into a lot of arguments with the wilfully blind (and usually terminally bigoted) on Twitter. What is irritating, if predictable, is the intellectual dishonesty. They produce glib circular “arguments” that prove nothing, accuse you of rejecting God (hint: if you don’t believe in gods, there are none for you to reject), tell you you’re behaving childishly because you’re desperately unhappy (um, no) and – my personal favourite – when confronted by somebody born disabled and enquiring as to how this can be reconciled with a loving God who has mercy on all who suffer, will accuse them of whining. I found this via @drpaulmorgan on Twitter and don’t know where the original came from. If anybody does, please point me to it so I can give credit where it’s due.
